Foundations of Vestibular Rehabilitation (Frizelle)

Course overview

Vestibular dysfunction is a primary cause of dizziness and balance impairments. Impairments of the vestibular system can affect any age group and can become significantly more common with age. Dizziness that comes from vestibular impairments may have many different clinical presentations. Balance deficits may occur in conjunction with dizziness or present without dizziness. The rehabilitation specialist needs to understand the varied vestibular pathologies and causes of dizziness/balance dysfunction to treat these individuals. This course will provide the clinician with a foundational understanding of common and uncommon cases of dizziness and balance impairments. It will also cover specific tests to use in the evaluation process to improve the rehabilitation diagnosis for these patients. Finally, it will provide specific treatment strategies to best manage these individuals throughout the rehab process.
