Understanding and Addressing Microaggressions in Clinical Practice

Course overview

Microaggressions pose significant challenges in clinical care, research, and organizational settings. This course explores the origins, types, and impacts of microaggressions within psychological contexts, with a focus on fostering cultural humility, addressing systemic inequities, and enhancing the therapeutic alliance between a patient/client and provider. Participants will learn evidence-based strategies for identifying, mitigating, and preventing microaggressions while adhering to the American Psychological Association (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. Through case studies, practical exercises, and the latest research, participants will develop the skills necessary to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their practice.
