Risk of Cancer Module 1: Risk and Etiology of Cancer

Course overview

Cancer is an emotionally charged and complex topic. Recognizing the inherent cancer risks that abound can help guide clinical suspicions and/or inform type and cadence of proactive testing for cancer. This foundational educational learning journey in four modules is designed to assist with clinical decision-making and to support having informed conversations with pet owners about the risks of cancer. The first video module defines cancer and offers an overview of cellular mechanisms of tumor formation and cancer hallmarks. Internal and external sources of DNA mutation contributing to cancer that are related to patient age, environment, and/or breed are introduced.
