Multiple Sclerosis - Assessment and Interventions

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the disease process of multiple sclerosis (MS).
2. Identify the causes, etiologies, and pathogenesis associated with MS.
3. Review the clinical manifestations and types of MS.
4. Examine various diagnostic tools and tests relevant for diagnosis.
5. Establish rehabilitation goals for patients with MS.
6. Assess strength, balance, coordination, gait, and endurance in MS patients, identifying areas for improvement using various assessment tools and tests.
7. Implement appropriate rehabilitation interventions, which may include strength and endurance exercises, balance training, stretching, aquatic therapy, tai chi, yoga, adaptive techniques, energy conservation, cognitive rehabilitation, home modifications, and the use of assistive devices to facilitate daily activities and promote independence.
8. Facilitate patients’ ability to perform activities of daily living by utilizing adaptive and assistive technologies while addressing cognitive and sensory impairments.
