Course overview

This is a hands-on training for spa staff who have taken a foundational course in the Anatomy & Physiology of pregnancy, contraindications and indications of treatment, client risk assessment, documentation, positioning, basic parameters of aromatherapy, acupressure, hydrotherapy, and bodywork for pregnant clients. The advanced course provides therapeutic methods of treating neck, low back and hip discomfort, nausea, indigestion, and delayed labor. Participants will be introduced to the 5 flows of energy in the body, understand and support the release of diaphragmatic constrictions, learn methods for liberating the flow of meridian energy with shiatsu technique, optimize a clients breathing capacity, and learn how to work with acupressure points for labor support. We will also discuss the use of essential oils and essential oil biochemistry as it pertains to pregnancy.
