Course Overview: This course will provide healthcare professionals with a comprehensive understanding of co-occurring disorders, where individuals experience both substance use disorders (SUDs) and mental health conditions simultaneously. It will equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to recognize, assess, and treat these disorders effectively using integrated care approaches. Course Objectives: At the end of the course, you will learn to: explain the interaction between addiction and mental health conditions; Identify common co-occurring mental health disorders and their impact on diagnosis and treatment; apply evidence-based therapeutic approaches for integrated treatment of addiction and mental health; develop individualized treatment plans that address both substance use and mental health needs; and implement relapse prevention strategies and support long-term recovery in individuals with co-occurring disorders.
