Course Overview: Participants will explore the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of tobacco addiction, evidence-based treatments, and effective strategies for helping clients quit smoking. By the course's end, mental health professionals will be well-equipped to provide informed, empathetic, and effective support to clients striving to break free from tobacco addiction. Course Objectives: In this course, you will: recognize the physiological and psychological factors contributing to tobacco addiction and dependence; understand the impact of tobacco use on mental health and well-being; evaluate evidence-based treatment options for tobacco addiction, including behavioral and pharmacological interventions; develop individualized treatment plans for clients seeking to quit smoking; utilize communication and motivational interviewing skills to engage clients effectively; address the unique challenges and barriers faced by clients with co-occurring mental health and tobacco addiction issues, and foster long-term tobacco cessation and relapse prevention through ongoing support and follow-up care.
