The purpose of this course is to provide the pharmacist with an overview of motivational interviewing terms and techniques as a communication and counseling approach designed to help patients find their own motivation to make a positive change in their behavior. Motivational interviewing is a communication style that includes building patient rapport while actively listening and responding in a respectful and non-judgmental manner to empower the patient to reach their own conclusions about making a behavior change
