Course overview

This online course is designed for rehabilitation-oriented healthcare providers who treat patients with lower back pain (LBP). It will present the latest evidence-based practices for managing LBP, explore current classification systems, and highlight the importance of integrating a regional interdependence model, with a focus on the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), to create a comprehensive, systematic approach for patients with LBP. It will explore evidence-based examination methods and the most effective treatment techniques, including manual therapy and therapeutic exercise, necessary to diagnose and treat patients within each of the four primary subcategories: direction-specific, mobilization, stabilization, and nociplastic pain. Clinical integration of SFMA findings will complement the overall treatment philosophy and inform discharge testing and management of musculoskeletal risk factors.
