Course overview

Michigan is anticipated to be a pivotal swing state in the 2024 election. Judges may be called upon to review complex election cases expeditiously in light of this. Faculty will review common legal issues arising from elections as well as litigation issues typically raised during the period of elections; the guiding authorities and recent legal changes implicated in responding to these complicated issues; and the manner in which the issues are likely to come before the court. In addition, faculty will discuss the relevant law to guide judges in handling potential new areas of litigation that may arise following the 2024 Election.
