Course overview

Healthcare professionals are exposed to various microorganisms and pathogens in the course of employment duties. Many pathogens may be transmitted via needlesticks, splash contacts and sharps injuries. Hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) are the pathogens that compose the vast majority exposures and infections. This continuing education activity is designed to review the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation standard and the management of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
