Course overview

Hypertension increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, which are amongst leading causes of death in the United States. About 75 million 32 % of American adults have hypertension that's 1 in every 3 adults. Hypertension is most prevalent amongst African Americans and women, and incidence increases with age. Recent data suggests that even people free of hypertension at age 55 still have a 90 % lifetime risk of developing high blood pressure. This continuing education activity is designed to explore the pathogenesis, etiology, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities of hypertension.
