Course overview

Total Joint Arthroplasty will become an ever increasing management for the baby boomer population. Over 800,000 joint replacements are currently being done for the hip, knee and shoulder. The primary diagnoses for these interventions are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis accounting for approximately 90% of all surgeries. This course will review the current medical and rehabilitative management of patients receiving Joint Arthroplasties. We will discuss the evaluation tools needed to develop a plan of care that meets with today's standards of care as evidenced in the research literature and for insurance reimbursement purposes. The financial pressure in the current and certainly the future management of these patients is requiring rehabilitation programs to be as efficient and proactive as possible.
