This workshop, Improving Quality on Intraoperative Frozen Sections (IFS), explores innovative strategies and tools designed to modernize and enhance the IFS workflow. Participants will examine current challenge-such as inefficiencies, inconsistent section quality, tissue conservation, and staff safety risks-and discover practical solutions that elevate diagnostic accuracy and lab performance. The session emphasizes key advancements including cryo embedding, rapid tissue freezing, automated staining, and digital whole slide imaging (WSI), demonstrating how these technologies collectively improve workflow efficiency, reduce exposure to hazardous chemicals, and enable remote pathology review. Through hands-on experience, attendees will engage with emerging tools like Presto CHILL and FineFIX, and learn best practices that optimize tissue handling and slide preparation.
