In this one-hour on-demand podcast, dermatologists Dr. Julia Miller and Dr. Joya Griffin, and Dr. Natalie Marks will start by reviewing canine food allergies, including historical clues such as the age of onset and seasonality in the patient, physical examination findings, including the minimum derm database, and other subtle findings that might suggest food allergy. They will then dive deeper into the dos and don'ts of diet trials, focusing on the client conversation, the different types of diets (novel protein hydrolyzed, prescription vs. OTC, home-cooked vs. commercial), the duration, if we need to challenge, and finish with guidance on how to proceed with the canine patient that may have both food allergy and atopy. The remainder of the podcast will feature questions from the audience pertinent to food allergy and diet trials.
