Course overview
"Canine Ocular Emergencies" will cater to primary care and emergency veterinarians in their evaluations of and management of ocular conditions seen in dogs. It will help to guide them in terms of parsing out what constitutes an ocular emergency versus an urgent ophthalmic case. A quick recap of an ophthalmic evaluation and minimum database testing will be discussed, followed by a series of the most frequent and pertinent types of emergencies seen in practice. This will include medical management, alleviating procedures and surgical intervention. In addition, a major goal of this presentation will be to cover what can be addressed in clinic versus what needs to be referred to an ophthalmologist on an emergent basis for evaluation.
