Course Description: This course is based upon course material developed and deployed by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The course material was specifically developed for the training of clinicians who work with clients who may use or abuse alcohol. Specific strategies that have been implemented and empirically tested are described. The course material covers the generic frameworks for the development and analysis of alcohol prevention efforts. It then analyzes the relevant vulnerability/resilience factors for planning interventions to prevent alcohol use disorders. After this analysis, the course material goes on to analyze both risk and protective factors for planning interventions to prevent alcohol use disorders.
