Course overview

Presented as a case study, this program illustrates a tiered response with both BLS and ALS responders. EMS arrive on-scene to find a woman who is experiencing abdominal pain. Patient history and a thorough assessment are performed. Included is an interview with Walt Stoy, PhD, University of Pittsburgh. He explains to the student that the history and assessment on-scene is critical to the emergency treatment the patient will receive. Emergency treatment and the patient assessment process using SAMPLE and OPQRST are modeled.
