Participants will be able to define resistance in psychotherapy, will be able to describe behavioral, cognitive, and emotional signs of resistance, will be able to describe historical and modern theoretical understandings of resistance, will be able to apply specific CBT techniques to address behavioral and cognitive manifestations of resistance, will be able to apply specific CBT techniques for managing emotional and cultural forms of resistance, and will be able to integrate motivational, cognitive, and systemic approaches to managing resistance in therapy.
