Course overview

This two-day (16 CE) hands-on, technique driven course will emphasize the use of instruments to assist with soft tissue mobilization. Students will learn to use muscle scraping tools to facilitate remodeling and healing at the tissue level. The current evidence surrounding the use of muscle scraping, instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization (IASTM), and gua sha in musculoskeletal disorders will be thoroughly reviewed. Students will learn how to detect myofascial dysfunction and appropriately select the tool and/or technique for the specific dysfunction. Particular emphasis will be placed on appropriately framing the use of IASTM techniques within an evidence-based approach.
