Course overview

The West Michigan Construction Institute (WMCI) Electrical Program provides Related Technical Instruction (RTI) for individuals enrolled in registered electrical apprenticeship programs. This four-year program delivers a total of 576 hours of classroom instruction, meeting the RTI requirement for electrical apprentices pursuing journeyperson licensure in Michigan. The curriculum is based on the nationally recognized Mike Holt instructional materials and includes training in electrical theory, Michigan Electrical Code, safety, blueprint reading, and system installation. Courses are taught by licensed electrical professionals. WMCI partners with contractors to align classroom learning with real-world jobsite experience and support the development of a qualified electrical workforce.
