Course overview

This initial two hour course is developed for the healthcare providers including all Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and or Home Health Aides (HHA) that assist the patients with self-administration of their medications. The patient should be capable of taking their own medication but needs some assistance and or monitoring with self-administration of their own medication. The healthcare provider must take this course prior to assuming this medication responsibility. At successful completion of this program, the healthcare will receive a Certificate of Completion. The healthcare provider must successfully complete the initial 2 hour training obtain, and then annually, must complete a minimum of 2 hours of continuing education training on providing assistance with self-administered medications and safe medication practices in an assisted living facilities (Florida Chapter Administration Code 58A-5.0191).
