Many therapists are eager to create a private practice without ever having experience as an administrator of one. This training will provide a short overview of the ethics of running a private mental health practice delivered podcast style. Listeners will listen to the podcast recording and complete a quiz to earn 1 CE. We will discuss the ethics of informed consents, that go beyond simply signing the document. We will discuss what must be included in the informed consent documents, including specific disclosures in a telehealth informed consent. We will discuss various scenarios where termination is ethically appropriate, what a business bill is and why we need to have one in place along with a plan for the custodian of client records or practice closure in the event of incapacitation or death, and why soliciting of testimonials from clients for marketing purposes is an ethical issue. Listeners will receive a bonus spreadsheet for Files, Passwords, and Contact List information that must be maintained and updated to accompany their professional will.
