Course overview
This is a 2-hour on-line course that describes the laws and rules within the state of Florida regarding abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and vulnerable adults, including those who are elderly and who have disabilities. The course is applicable to all mental health professionals; however, it focuses on Florida statutes that are applicable to mental health professionals, and therefore, the content is particular to professionals who practice with Floridians. For professionals interested in this course who live or practice outside of Florida, many states have very similar rules related to responding to suspicion or reports of abuse and neglect, though rules are rarely identical and often are very different. It is important to review statutes in your own state related to requirements for responding to abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and vulnerable adults. This course is written by Gwendolyn Green, LMHC MCAP LPC, co-owner and director of education of AA Ross Counseling, and is a licensed mental health clinician in Florida, Washington, and West Virginia.
