Treating Borderline Personality Disorder
Tracking # 20-1303708
Course overview
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) has long been misunderstood and stigmatized. This has often lead to ineffective or inconsistent treatment approaches (Chalker et al., 2015). Historically viewed as one of the most challenging personality disorders to treat, BPD requires structured, research-backed interventions to address its complex symptoms, including emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, and unstable relationships. Additionally, because individuals with BPD are highly heterogeneous, treatment must be personalized and flexible based on the individual's unique needs. By staying informed on evidence-based models, clinicians can help reduce stigma, enhance patient engagement, and improve long-term outcomes for individuals with BPD. This course will provide information about the treatment options available for working with individuals with BPD, common treatment challenges, and strategies to enhance treatment effectiveness.
