Mentee Skills for Lifelong Learning

Course overview

This online asynchronous course covers the basic skills needed by new veterinarians to be active and effective mentees. It is structured around the principles of Self Directed Learning and will teach new vets how to take ownership of their own Professional Development learning activities while working with a mentor. We will discuss how to identify and enlist mentors, how to create and utilize personal learning objectives and how to effectively evaluate one's own skills and reflect on new learning strategies to accomplish professional goals. Course participants will practice proven communication techniques that will help them make the most of their mentor-mentee relationships. The course will utilize short lectures, modeling, written assignments, journaling, role playing, and quizzes.
