Embodied Resilience and Justice: Towards Relationship with Our Nervous System
Tracking # 20-1304920
Course overview
In this course, we re-define resilience from a justice-oriented, systems-based perspective and begin to develop skills and language around our nervous system response to adversity. Contents includes: A reframing of resilience that de-centers the individual and accounts for the ecosystems of adversity we face on the micro- and macro-levels; The introduction of science-based frameworks around stress and relaxation cycles that ground our experience in the physiology of behavior; A review of a 4-step model of embodied self-inquiry, bringing us into relationship with our nervous system; and Guided facilitation of embodied awareness practices in support of nervous system regulation. Having the ability to regulate our energy states from a deep, authentic self-knowing allows us to increase our bandwidth as we seek to not just bounce back from challenges but also transform the circumstances and systems of adversity that cause violence and harm. The content is beneficial for providers on a personal and professional level.
