This course is based on the treatment guidelines set forth by the American Psychiatric Association for treatment of Eating Disorders. Course objectives include: 1. Summarize the diagnostic character resident is for anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder 2. summarize the most common psychotherapeutic interventions for each disorder 3. describe the characteristics of clients with each of these disorders 4. identify common psychological and medical disorders that cooccur with eating disorders 5. describe how to place patients in any appropriate level of care 6. identify psychological or physical symptoms in comment in eating disorders which may necessitate hospitalization 7. summarize the goals of treatment for persons with eating disorders
