If you are a psychotherapist, you are going to counsel clients who are abusing drugs and alcohol. This course contains basic and more advanced information about substance abuse, with more emphasis on alcohol. Prescription drug abuse is rampant and increasing rapidly. The material will give you a basic understanding of the prevalence of these problems, how to screen, how to recognize denial and how to make appropriate referrals. It also contains handy screening tools and handouts for therapists, clients and family members.
