Course overview
This course covers advanced level anatomy and the function of muscles and joints of the thoracic and lumbar spine, abdomen and pelvis. Techniques for palpating these structures and for treating soft tissues and trigger points will be given including appropriate active and passive ROM. Students should leave the class with a thorough understanding of the myofascial components of pain patterns in these areas. Also addressed in this course will be protocols for respiratory dysfunction, lower back pain, post-shingles pain, and adjusted positioning to improve posture and overall biomechanics of the region.
