Course overview
Student will be exposed to anatomy and function of muscles and joints of the hip, thigh, leg and foot. Techniques for palpating these structures and for treating soft tissues will be given including appropriate active and passive ROM. Students should leave the class with a thorough understanding of the myofascial components of pain patterns in these areas. Discussions will include various common surgeries, such as hip or knee replacements, sprains and strains, numerous foot pathologies, and gait mechanics (overall and lower extremity, in particular). Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of the foot in gait dysfunction as well as overall posture and biomechanics.
