Course overview
After completion of this program the learner will be able to identify blood-borne pathogens that could be acquired through occupational exposure. Understand OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens. Be able to identify the difference between standard universal precautions and transmission based precautions. Understand the difference between decontamination and sterilization. Knowledge in the management of HIV exposures, including timing of treatment and HIV testing. Define Protective Personal Equipment. Understand the exposure control plan. Knowledge of engineering controls. Define work practice controls. Understand appropriate measures for housekeeping and regulated waste. Knowledge of linen, laundry and biohazardous waste materials handling. Identify OSHA Standards for employees and OSHA regulations for employers.
