Course overview

Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic condition that affects your muscles and the fascia around them. With myofascial pain syndrome, pressing on trigger points can cause localized or referred pain. Myofascial pain syndrome is common. Experts estimate that up to 85% of the general population will develop the condition at some point. This course will explore the connection between fascia and (chronic) pain and how we can treat the fascia to help people in pain. We will describe the Myofascial System (MS) and explain how a disturbance of this system can be a component of your clients pain. What treatment options do healthcare providers have to treat Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS)? What does the research and literature suggest for the treatment of MPS? These questions will be answered, and a demonstration of treatment techniques will help you get started on the path of helping people with MPS.
