Course overview

Trigger points are a well-established source of chronic myofascial pain. Original explorations by Dr. Janet Travell in the 1940s and 50s are the foundation of trigger point therapy; but over the years new research into trigger points has better illuminated their properties, behavior, mechanism of pain production, and mechanism of release. Manual therapists that treat myofascial pain will benefit from a deeper, more up-to-date understanding of how to palpate, assess, and treat myofascial trigger points. In this course, we will explore the true nature of trigger points, how to identify them, and how to release them using a science-backed, minimally invasive, reliable hands-on approach.
