The Basics of Addiction

Course overview

This training will provide an overview of Substance abuse, and the impact it has on individuals, families, and society. There will be much discussion on various theories of addiction, the history of addiction in American culture, and an overview of treatment models. There will also be a component of prevention education, discussing prevention science and risk and protection theory in regards to various populations. This class will also give an overview of various substances, their classifications, and their effects.
