Panel Discussion - The Equine GI Microbiome and Dysbiosis: What do we Know & What Should we be Doing?

Course overview

We have assembled an expert and multidisciplinary panel to discuss the current and clinically applicable understanding of the equine gastrointestinal microbiome and dysbiosis. There will be a focus on what defines a healthy microbiome, factors that disrupt it, and its potential clinical relevance. Key topics include the clinical use of faecal microbiomics, faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), and practical use of prebiotics, probiotics, and dietary strategies to modify, influence, or support intestinal microbiota populations. The panel will discuss clinical scenarios where the microbiome should be considered, address methods for assessing microbiome status, practical approaches to maintain or restore balance, and the potential impact on equine patients.
