Confused about dental implant maintenance? Me too... The dental implant industry is growing at a rapid rate. Advancements in technology and science are evolving faster than clinicians can keep up. What we are taught about implant maintenance in school varies depending on the year we graduated and may no longer reflect the current standard of care. Conflicting messages can be frustrating to the dental teams. The science of implantology is industry and technology driven: the disciplines of surgical placement, restorative, and hygiene maintenance often don't communicate effectively with each other. To open that dialogue, we encourage restorative dentists to attend this class alongside their hygiene teams. This live webinar will review changing trends in implant maintenance as they relate to biocompatibility, corrosion, and dysbiosis. We will also explore the role of modern diagnostic tools-such as the dental endoscope, subgingival bacterial testing, and systemic bloodwork-in identifying and managing peri-implant disease. Adjunctive therapies will be discussed to support minimally invasive, evidence-based interventions that promote long-term implant health.
