Aromatherapy for Trauma Healing

Course overview

Per Florida Statute 407.107(3), this course prepares acupuncturists to utilize aromatherapy (essential oils) as an adjunctive therapy with acupuncture, to reduce and heal trauma and pain patterns. These patterns include anxiety, depression, agitation, hyperarousal, insomnia, pain, and cognitive impairment. The course will provide a basic introduction to essential oils; how they work from the biomedical standpoint; how to use them safely as diffused aromatics and topically on acupoints; contraindications; development of a basic pharmacy of essential oils for the above described symptoms; and how to create combinations of essential oils to treat various conditions, using the treatment principals of Chinese herbology.
