Course overview
Course gives students an overview of how and why the Code of Ethics developed and how the real estate industry landscape prompted its creation. Students will be able to integrate the Code of Ethics with the WV Licensing Laws. Students will use the licensing laws as a guide to practicing the Code of Ethics to benefit consumers, clients and customers, to insure fair and honest dealings with all. Students can define that the basis of the Code of Ethics is, "Under All Is The Land," and "The Golden Rule." Both suggest that licensees should take steps to eliminate practices that damage the public. Students will determine that the terms licensee and REALTOR stand for integrity, competence and fairness. Students will be able to implement 3 major parts of the Code: duties to clients, customers, duties to the public and duties to other licensees. Student wil focus on how to comply with agency, advertising and WV Law, as prescribed by the WV 30-40 and Legislative Rules Title 174.
