Why do some people live longer healthier lives than others even within the same health system? The answer often lies not only in access to healthcare or personal health decisions but in many interconnected factors. These factors are known as determinants of health. Social determinants of health refer to the conditions in the environments in which people are born live learn work play and age. Social determinants can significantly impact a person's health and rehabilitation outcomes function and overall quality of life. As rehabilitation professionals identifying these non-medical factors is crucial for effective care particularly for vulnerable populations. This course aims to provide an overview of social determinants of health and equip rehabilitation professionals with the skills to identify a range of social factors that influence the health outcomes of individuals and communities.
