Course overview
Based on two publications, Prevention and Treatment of HIV Among People Living with Substance Use and/or Mental Disorders, and HIV-AIDS Prevention and Risk Reduction for Drug Users, participants will review research findings and literature related to the issue of HIV among people with mental illness and/or SUD, examines best practices, and identifies challenges and strategies for implementation. Participants will also increase their familiarization with a scientifically tested model of community-based outreach to reduce the risk of HIV and other blood-borne infections in drug users.
