Course overview
Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths in older adults, with over 3 million emergency de-partment visits annually in the U.S. alone. But it's not just all about falls, Physical Therapists play a criti-cal role in addressing the multifactorial risks associated with functional decline and hospitalization in the aging population. Clinicians must synthesize physical, cognitive, sensory, and environmental factors when developing individualized plans of care for medically complex patients to optimize mobility and maximize quality of life. This case-based course provides five diverse, real-world scenarios designed to sharpen clinical reason-ing and improve outcomes in geriatric rehabilitation. Each case integrates functional assessment, evi-dence-based interventions, and targeted strategies tailored to complex patient profiles. Attendees will gain practical tools for immediate implementation, enhancing safety, independence, and ADL par-ticipation for older adult clients in the outpatient clinical setting.
