The internet offers a tremendous variety of instant-access sexually explicit material. An overwhelming majority of males have seen pornography, and view it regularly. Though most porn users experience no problems, many struggle with feelings of guilt and shame about their use of porn, and some encounter challenges within their relationship, or at work related to pornography. Most online porn is free, but comes along with substantial risks, ranging from exposure to legal charges to supporting the exploitation of vulnerable persons. Dr. David Ley is a worldwide expert on the problems people experience related to pornography. In this training, Dr. Ley helps attendees to understand what research tells us about people who report struggles with control of their porn use, and helps them to learn skills of mindfulness about their porn use, and teaching skills of negotiation, behavior self-management, coping skills and sexual education. Clinicians will benefit, learning strategies and skills to assist patients in increasing feelings of self-control and preventing potential harms or relationship conflicts over pornography use.
