Course overview

The Hippocratic Oath of "do no harm" is one that provider's take personally and intertwines with their professional life and practice. Unfortunately, adverse events happen, and multiple research articles suggest that over 98,000 medical errors occur annually, many result in harm to the patients. These errors have significant negative effects for the client, family members, provider, and the health professions. This advanced level course is designed to define medical errors, examine federal and state laws related to medical errors, common medical errors, consequences of medical errors as well as strategies to reduce or prevent them from occurring. This two hour course is designed to satisfy the Board requirements for Florida Clinical Social Work, Marriage, and Family Therapist, and Mental Health Counselors.
