Workshop Description -(Alcohol & Drug Withdrawal) Workshop description and objectives: This workshop helps educate counselors about the stages, symptoms, and risks of withdrawal from various substances. Increase awareness to counselors in helping clients normalize the withdrawal process as a medically manageable and essential step in the recovery process. Help individuals define withdrawal and differentiate between acute withdrawal and post-acute withdrawal. Help counselors identify common symptoms of withdrawal from substances such as alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants, and cannabis. counselors. Increase awareness of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options and support services.
