American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) states that supervision is an "integral part of the initial training of speech-language pathologists and audiologists, as well as their continued professional development at all levels and in all work settings." As practicing Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), we are obligated to provide supervision to graduate students and clinical fellows to educate and train the future of our field. Though this is a daunting task for many, it provides us with an opportunity to support and guide future SLPs through evidence-based means and activities. Through mentorship, we can enhance our own skills and knowledge, increase leadership skills, improve our overall patient care and delivery, and aid in the fulfill-ment of another individual's goals of becoming an SLP. This course will cover techniques and best practices for effective supervision, focusing on enhancing clinical outcomes, fostering pro-fessional development, and promoting ethical practices. Participants will explore strategies for improving communication with students and Clinical Fellows (CFs), for managing resources, and will develop a robust toolkit for addressing common supervisory challenges.
