For many, anxiety and obsessive thinking - whether general or specific - can be absolutely debilitating, and struggles with anxiety have increased substantially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Clinicians need to be able to provide care that is supportive, but also practical, as many individuals seeking treatment want immediate relief. While not developed specifically for anxiety disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy provides myriad skills and techniques related to the management of overwhelming emotions connected to Generalized Anxiety, Specific Phobia, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This presentation by Dr. Charles Jacob will provide an overview of specific techniques connected to emotion regulation and the philosophy of radical acceptance, with emphasis on motivating and engaging clients in the process.
