On-demand (recorded) course Sport psychology practitioners experience a wide range of potential ethical dilemmas that can be difficult to recognize given the unique features of sport culture (Watson et al., 2020). Being equipped to manage potential ethical challenges within sport psychology has important implications for burnout and career longevity (Haugen & Hoff, 2024). Therefore, it is important to not only have reliable ethical decision-making frameworks to use when navigating these tricky situations but also consider using risk management strategies to potentially shrink future ethical dilemmas. This webinar focuses on elements, including important cultural considerations, that sport psychology practitioners can evaluate when navigating ethical challenges within applied sport psychology settings. The presenter will discuss ethical codes from various disciplines and offer a risk mitigation strategy that can be used within sport psychology (Haugen et al., 2025). Finally, an ethical decision-making model grounded in positive psychology (Knapp & Fingerhut, 2024) will be presented and applied to at least one ethical scenario. Participants will leave this webinar with tools to empower ethical decision-making within their sport psychology roles. This webinar is appropriate for mental performance consultants and licensed mental health professionals working in applied sport psychology settings.
