Infection Control Essentials for Dental Professionals: OSHA and CDC Updates

Course overview

Health care professionals are at an increased risk of cross-infection when treating patients. This webinar will focus on a practical discussion of the most recent dental infection control recommendations, with updates on occupational blood-borne (e.g. HBV, HCV, HIV), airborne (e.g. SARS-CoV-2, influenza, RSV), and waterborne (e.g. Legionella, non-tubercle mycobacteria) pathogens. Discussion include hand hygiene, sharps safety, recommended vaccinations for dental health professionals, personal protective equipment, instrument and handpiece reprocessing, environmental surface disinfection, single-use disposables, and dental water line treatment. Application of Standard and Transmission-based Precautions, PPE, and air quality requirements to minimize cross-infection from infectious airborne microorganisms will be discussed from current CDC, OSHA, NIOSH, FDA, and EPA publications.
