In this training we will demystify processing flashbacks with survivors of more complex or pervasive traumatic experiences. Flashbacks are often mistakenly framed as solely visual or cognitive, survivors 'seeing' the traumatic events repeat themselves in their mind's eye. This frame excludes the more dysregulating - and disturbing - components of flashbacks that often defy standard treatments for PTSD. In this training, we will identify the other components of traumatic recall - sensations, smells, tastes, emotions, impulses to move, etc.. These are the components of flashbacks that many patients do not recognize as traumatic recall, and many therapists are unaware of how these experiences can maintain Complex PTSD, in spite of treatment. This training will give therapists the skills to recognize, name, frame, and process flashbacks on level deeper than cognitive and visual learning
